Who pays the bill? Let the game decide

The meal is over and nobody moves. In BillFighters you start a game from inside the group: everyone plays at the same time on their own phone, and the result names who pays. The group votes before the start — winner pays, or loser pays.

Free · iOS and Android · unlimited draws, no Premium needed.

Everyone looks around, nobody reaches for a card

It is always the same moment. The bill lands, someone suggests splitting it evenly, someone else points out they skipped dessert, and whoever fronts the money ends up paying “just this once” — for the third time this month.

The simplest fix is not sharper maths, it is making the moment fun. One short game, everyone watching the same screen, the payer is named, and you move on.

That is what BillFighters turns it into: eight ways to name the payer, from a pure random draw to a game of skill, one rule voted by the group, and balances that update on their own.

Eight ways to name the payer

Five animated draws you watch, three live mini-games you play. Either way a single round decides who pays, and the whole group follows it in real time.

The five animated draws

Lightning Draw

The wheel spins and stops on a name within seconds: the fastest mode, the one you fire off while the waiter is already standing there.

Default rule: whoever the wheel lands on pays. The only mode without a vote — chance settles it, no appeal.

Sprint

A speed race between the players, everyone following their own runner live to the finish line.

By default the last one pays — and the group votes before the start to make it the winner instead.

Swimming

A swimming race between the players, where the last one literally sinks to the bottom of the screen.

By default the last one pays — and the group votes before the dive to make it the winner instead.

Laser

A turret sweeps the group, locks onto its target and vaporises it: the most theatrical of the five draws.

The payer comes out of the draw itself; the vote decides beforehand whether they are shown as the survivor or as the eliminated one.

Zombie

Patient zero chases the others and the horde grows with every bite, down to the last survivor.

The payer comes out of the draw itself; the vote decides beforehand whether they are shown as the survivor or as the bitten one.

The three live mini-games

LAST STAND

The first of the three live mini-games: everyone steers their character with a joystick and survives the waves as long as they can.

By default the first one eliminated pays — and the group votes before the round to make it the last one standing.

RUSH

An obstacle race where everyone drives their own runner live: here reflexes do the ranking, not chance.

By default last place pays — and the group votes before the round to make it the winner.

GÂCHETTE

A duel of aim and trigger speed, each player on their own phone, scores climbing live.

By default the lowest score pays — and the group votes before the round to make it the best score.

The vote happens before the round, never after: everyone picks winner pays or loser pays, the majority carries it, and if no majority emerges chance settles it. Nobody can change the rule once the result is out.

Two express modes come on top: the finger picker, where two to ten fingers land on the same screen and only one gets chosen, and the team match, which draws the sides at random inside an event.

All eight are playable as browser demos, without installing anything.

And if you would rather not play for money?

That case is built in, as a setting of its own: when you start a draw you decide whether it counts in the group’s balances or is played just for fun. Nothing forces a draw to end as a debt.

Tracked, or just for fun

A tracked draw writes the result into the group’s balances: whoever is named becomes the one who covers the bill, and the balances move. A fun draw touches no balance — the exact same game, with no consequences.

Replay as often as you like

Nothing stops you from running it again because the animation was too short or because someone wants a rematch. Only the last draw counts in the balancing.

No money goes through the app

BillFighters moves no money and takes no stake: the app records who paid what and works out what each person owes. Settling up happens between you, as always.

It is the same app for a group that tracks every cent and for a crew that only ever plays for who buys the coffee.

Why it is fairer than a coin toss

A coin toss picks someone. It does not say what the rule was, it keeps no trace, and it works nothing out for what comes next.

The rule is voted, not imposed

Before every round each player picks whether the winner or the loser pays, and the majority carries it: the loudest voice at the table no longer sets the rule.

Ties are settled by chance

If no majority emerges, the app draws the rule at random, with even odds. Nobody arbitrates and nobody renegotiates once the result is in.

The history stays in the group

Every draw leaves a trace: who played, which rule, who was named. The “that is not what we agreed” argument has nowhere left to go.

The app then works out who owes what

Once the payer is named, the expense joins the group and the balances recompute on their own. The app then groups the reimbursements so nobody has to pay back everybody.

The game decides who pays tonight. The balances stay fair over time.

Frequently asked questions

How do you decide who pays the bill with friends?

Open the group, start a draw, pick one of the eight games and invite the players: everyone plays at the same time from their own phone and the result names the payer. Before the round, the group votes on whether the winner or the loser pays. You also decide whether the draw counts in the group’s balances or is played just for fun.

Does the winner or the loser pay?

The group settles it, before the round and never after. Everyone votes “winner pays” or “loser pays”, the majority carries it, and with no majority the app draws the rule at random. Only the Lightning Draw has no vote: whoever the wheel lands on pays, full stop. On Laser and Zombie the vote changes the staging — the payer is shown either as the survivor or as the eliminated one.

Can we play without it counting in the balances?

Yes. When you start it, a draw can be tracked in the group’s balancing or played just for fun — in which case no balance moves. You can also replay a round as many times as you like; only the last draw counts. And the app never moves money: it records and computes, while settling up happens between you.

Does everyone need the app?

Whoever starts the round has the app, and you can add guests without an account to your group: they count among the players and show up in the balances. The three live mini-games, though, are played from each player’s own phone, so those do need the app installed.

Let a game settle the next bill

Create your group, add the expense, start the round. The rest — who owes what, to whom, in how few payments — is the app’s job.
